Located in Williamsburg, The Colonies at Williamsburg offers spacious accommodations near historic attractions and family-friendly entertainment. Guests enjoy modern, fully equipped kitchens, private patios, and access to resort-style amenities.
The Colonies at Williamsburg offers spacious, apartment-style accommodations with amenities like an indoor pool, game room, and proximity to Colonial Williamsburg and other historical sites. However, recent reviews highlight concerns around pool access, dated rooms, and inconsistent service, particularly regarding staff responsiveness and room maintenance.
I actually like this resort and have enjoyed many aspects of my stay, but I simply do not understand why outside visitors are allowed to use the pool facilities. Large groups show up, clearly not staying at the resort. As a (paying) member, this is extremely disappointing and honestly frustrating. Pool access should be reserved for resort guests. This issue seriously impacted our vacation experience and turned what could have been a great stay into a very disappointing one. ?????
Loved it and had a good time but only gripe I have is since adults are responsible for their kids and everyone swims at their own risk since there is no life guard then they should allow the kids to enter into the hot tub wither parents as long as the parents arr watching them. The water in the hot tub is warm not hot and some of us like myself wanted to get into the hot tub but since our kids are 2 and 3 year old they couldn't get into the hot tub, so therefore we couldn't enjoy it. No child wants to sit on the outside of the hot tub and put their feet in. If they want to give adults separate space from the kids I get it, so then set a time that kids can't enter into the hot tub, example 4PM thru 10PM, don't exclude the kids. This is the only reason why I won't return,I didn't get to enjoy myself like I would have like too. I'm not a pool person.
The staff is unbelievably nice. Kayla is the best ever! BUT Their rooms need work. Not a single USB port for charging to be found. Kinda musty and a couple of bugs were found. Queen bed is uncomfortable the king was comfy. Fold out couch horrible. Stuff needs to be updated. Lazy river not working indoor pool not heated, outdoor pool freezing! Bathrooms were out of order by pool for 1.5 days of visit - going back and forth to the room to use the restroom is a hassle for sure.
We didn’t get to rate a stay, as we were only there for the 90-minute tour that ended up taking 2h and 50min. Mostly because they kept trying to push a sale and telling us that we had to listen to the full presentation, of which included a sales guy (that did an excellent job and was very respectful), a manager who didn’t understand what compounding your investments for ROI meant, to a guy that was just trying to sell us vacation packages of which we had no interest in. At the end of the tour, we received our perks for attending, but as long as it took, it should have been double what they offered. Keep this in mind when doing the tour, as double the time should equal double the perk offer.
Rooms were clean and provided what we needed. Could use a little updating but otherwise great! People were helpful and friendly. Pool (both indoor and outdoor) was fun for my kids and had a large outdoor hot tub for adults! Our stay was quiet with likely no one else in our building. They provided a washer and dryer which always makes coming home easier. Only 15 minutes from Colonial Williamsburg living history museum. And less than 30 minutes from both Jamestown and Yorktown.
Stayed at The Colonies at Williamsburg through Airbnb and I must say—it was a pleasant surprise! You never really know what you’re going to get with some Airbnbs, but this one looked exactly like the pictures, which I really appreciated. It’s set up more like a well-kept apartment complex with great amenities—there’s an indoor pool (and I believe an outdoor one as well), plus a game room. I originally booked a four-bedroom but ended up only needing a two-bedroom, and it was perfect. We had a lower-level unit with a patio that included a table and chairs for four—great for relaxing. Inside, there was a full kitchen with a stove, full-size refrigerator, dishwasher, and even a blender—pretty much everything you need for quick meals like breakfast, lunch, or a simple dinner (just don’t expect to cook a full Thanksgiving feast unless you bring extra cookware). The unit also had a fireplace, two bedrooms, and two full bathrooms. The beds and pillows were comfortable, and most importantly—it was CLEAN, which is a big deal for me. Service was good, everything was smooth, and overall it felt like a cozy, convenient home away from home. Stores with in five minutes away and dining.. I think Jocelyn checked my in , she was polite And Kayla checked me out. Nice Would definitely stay again!
Rooms are a little dated and need some maintenance but otherwise comfortable. Love the layout of the 2bd units. Great location in the middle of everything.
We stayed for one night in the winter. The unit we initially we in had was cold and bad thermostat so we had to move. The second unit the hot water ran out immediately so the kids couldn't take a bath. The decor is 90s dated but it's Williamsburg so perhaps retro is expected...LOL. So my rating is based on one night. There is an additional resort fee too. The staff was amazing and were very helpful and attentive.
Unfortunately we did not get photos of the room, but they were nice and quiet. Very secluded. The parking was assigned which is great. There was a lot to do during our stay just in this one place! The indoor pool was a hit for the season,
I am very satisfied with my stay. The rooms are very clean and spacious. Shower is large enough for 2 people. Beds are comfortable. Kitchen is very spacious. Will definitely book another stay here soon.
