The Hilton Vacation Club The Historic Powhatan Williamsburg offers spacious suites and numerous amenities, including pools, a restaurant, and scheduled activities. However, recent reviews highlight inconsistent service, cleanliness issues, and recurring maintenance problems, with some guests experiencing difficulties with room upgrades and resort fees.
We have stayed at this location one previous time and it was fabulous. However, this most recent time definitely left A LOT to be desired! After I checked in, they basically blocked the door telling me I couldn't leave until I went to the concierge to talk to them about their timeshare talk about bullying tactics. First thing we noticed in the room the lamp on the side closest to the bathroom would not work unless you are asleep and then it would flicker. Don't think about using the dresser. The drawers will just automatically open for you especially when you're walking by and don't want them to. Then the hook on the back of the bathroom door is falling off along with the bathroom light fixture falling off of the wall barely holding on by its wires. And don't be anything over 5'5 when you go to shower. Otherwise you're going to have to duck to get under the water. Then you move to the kitchen. Toaster's broke. You only get one side of your bread toasted also the painted spots on the stove where they tried to cover the rust. The rust on the refrigerator. And the level of cleanliness feel like I may as well have let a child eat on the table and then just walk away. It probably would have been cleaner. And even when you tell them all of these issues they said that they would have management contact me. Still have yet to hear anything. Also be advised there is no warning about the $200 deposit hold - update they finally called 2 days later to talk to me about our experience and they could have cared less about anything being broken. At this point wish I could give a 0 star review.
The rooms were spacious each with it's own bathroom. The facility had plenty to do and numerous activities. And it is close to everything. Like Busch Gardens and Colonial Williamsburg. I would recommend this to anyone.
We Loved it. In winter, there is a well-kept indoor pool and hot tub. The entire accommodation space had all the amenities, and the room was enormous. It is highly recommended that anyone visiting Busch Gardens with children should consider this place. In case needed, they even have an EV charger.
Stayed during Christmas (24-28) for 4 nights last week. The apartment was okay, definitely older and not updated. The hot water was gone after 8-10 mins in the shower so two people cant shower at the same time or one after the other. The internet was mediocre at best and kept going in and out, even after they "fixed it". We could smell whatever cooking they were doing in the apartment below us which wasn't great. The $28.00/night resort fee was not worth what I got. Probably would not stay here again.
We just got back from a 2 week vacation at this resort. We stayed in a 3 bedroom suite, which has 1 bedroom on each floor the top having 2 twin beds. It has a pullout couch on the 2nd floor and full washer and dryer. Plenty of room big closet. Never heard our neighbors. If you like the Paranormal they have a fantastic team called Virginia Paranormal Occurrence that does ghost hunting tours in the manor house. David and Geri tell the history of the property and after the tour let you use their equipment. We took this tour several times and loved it every time.
4 adults stayed 5 days and 4 nights at the townhouses in Hilton's Historic Powhatan (Priceline deal). Thank you Mohammed for upgrading us to a 2 bedroom (reserved a 1 bedroom with pull-out couch). Spacious and clean. All on one level but we had to climb stairs to the 2nd floor (many different options). Had to pay an extra resort fee (would have been great if it weren't winter time with very few activities to enjoy). Coffee shop was closed the whole time we were there. Initial check-in asks if you want to hear a presentation for money off your tickets (just politely say "no").
My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights. The room was great, they had upgraded us from a 1 bd - to a 2 bedroom for free. Which was very nice. The next two nights were HELL. This is a two level condo, we were on the bottom. BIG mistake. They dont have very good sound proofing at all, we could here people upstairs the whole night. These people were stomping around like elephants until 3:00 am. They did this for our last two nights. I tried calling the front desk...of course it's all computerized and kept routing me around. I could never talk to anyone. The location is great and the grounds are beautiful. Just don't book on the ground floor, unless you dont care about sleep. We are never going back there.
This is just a glorified motel - nothing more! We can’t believe they put the Hilton name on it! -everything is too spread out from their third rate amenities -no elevators so lug bags up two flights -limited parking on numbered spots -limited internet that is $6 for each device after the limit of 2 per room is reached -others parking in our designated space yet motel does nothing about it and we have no place to park. This happened repeatedly over four days. We called and left messages with the manager of security but to no avail. -cheap furniture and finishes inside -looks like conjoined vinyl cabins on the outside -nothing historic except the manor house in the middle of the village which is not curated or even staffed. I -the name “Historic Powhatan” is misleading and is a misnomer used only for marketing purposes -heated pool indoors but the building feels not heated because people are wearing jackets and hats in the indoor pool area -the only hair dryer in the men’s locker room is broken -customer service at checkin is poor - not knowledgeable about properly and unwilling to speak or answer questions. Gave us wrong information for the things we managed to ask. Promised to send a text with info but that didn’t come until we called to complain. -the coffeehouse is a joke - the espresso machine is broken and is far from most buildings. No customers inside were seen. -the restaurant is the same tragedy. We didn't see a single person in it on a Sunday at lunch time -we will not visit again “Historic Powhatan”: -There is really nothing “historic” or “Powhatan” on the property -Only one building is in colonial style -The rest of the buildings are cheap two story construction (no elevator) condos with cheap vinyl siding on the ourside Parking: -Limited to one car per unit -In numbered spots -someone else parked in our spot and someone in theirs -security had to be called -I had to ring the bells of several units to find out who is parked improperly Internet: -free but with limits -two devices *per room* included -then $6 per device (not per person) “Vacation club”: -nothing luxurious or club-like except the gated entrance unless you are golfing then I have no idea if it is like a club -kitchens have cheap white appliances -bathrooms are with vinyl floors -shower walls are the PVC or plastic type -The coffee maker is not keurig or Nespresso -the coffee maker is drip with pouches -rooms are clean and so are baths therefore two stars
This trip was a re-do of a bad experience last year. Aside from the annoying sales pitches(which are expected), everything went pretty well this time around, except for one issue. Most everything at the resort is only accessible by key card, which is great. Keeps people who don’t belong there out. We noticed that security was just waving people through without verifying if they belonged there or not, but didn’t think much else of it. Figured whoever it was wouldn’t be able to access amenities anyway. The one thing we couldn’t enjoy this time around(which was much needed), was the pool area. The side entrance of the pool requires a key, but the front entrance does not. Every time we went to enjoy the hot tub, a group of unsupervised children came in, jumping into the hot tub(18+, no children) one, splashing the water from the hot tub into the pool in an attempt to make it warmer. They proceeded to do backflips off the hot tub into the pool. It was ridiculously chaotic and there were no adults or employees in sight. The only thing missing was the music playing (“Nothing beats a Jet2 Holiday…). The same children were later seen waiting outside with their swimming gear and backpacks waiting for rides. Clearly security and other workers are giving access to everything to people who are not supposed to be there. It was so close to a perfect week. One more thing, people were parking in front of our unit who didn’t belong there. They were supposed to park in the overflow lot but kept returning even after security left them a violation on their vehicle.
We stayed 4 nights at the Hilton Vacation Club The Historic Powhatan Williamsburg and had such a great experience! The resort is beautiful, peaceful, and full of charm. We were pleasantly surprised with a free upgrade to a 2-bedroom suite — it was spacious, clean, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Every team member we met was friendly and welcoming, and the property was very well maintained. We didn’t get a chance to use the pool or restaurant this time, but we’re already looking forward to enjoying them on our next visit. Highly recommend this resort for a relaxing getaway in Williamsburg!
