Marriott's Manor Club at Ford's Colony offers a beautiful, spacious resort setting with access to golf, pools, and various activities, appealing to families and those seeking a relaxing getaway. However, recent reviews highlight inconsistent service, cleanliness concerns, and frustrating experiences with sales pitches and misleading location information.
Upon arrival we were happy so see where we were staying. Once getting into the room I noticed it was warm. The air wasn't working. Got with the front desk the next morning and they sent somebody out to check on it. They got it working while we were out that day. Arrived back that evening late and it was cool but it still was not 68* like the thermostat stated. @ 68* in my home(in South Mississippi so the humidity isn't the issue) you might need a blanket while watching tv. I know things like this happen from time to time. What irks me is that the thermostat in the room has a limit on how low you can go, 68* is the limit, that isn't horrible but to stay in a place with such nice grounds ya would expect to be able to be comfortable wherever that temp may be. I was going to find somewhere else for our second night of the trip but I bought a fan and the wife was ok with it at that point. I didn't realize this was a place selling time shares, I admit I did not look at it before booking, the wife said she liked it so I booked it. So expect multiple phone calls trying to sell you on a time share. I finally blocked the number.
I would love to give this hotel a 5-star rating. The room was beautiful, and the amenities were fantastic. However, we were left with a terrible experience at the very end of our stay. After checking out and getting well on our way home out of state we received a debit card charge for a $500 pet cleaning fee. My husband is a 100% disabled combat wounded amputee who is medically retired from the US Marines with two working service K9s. According to the ADA protections for service animals, hotels cannot charge a "pet fee," a "cleaning fee," or any other deposit for an ADA-compliant service dog. They are considered medical aids rather than pets. We informed them of the two service K9s when making the reservation over the phone to also ensure we would have an ADA compliant room, and were assured there would be no pet fee. When we called to dispute this, we were told that it was because the service K9s were not registered as such with the front desk upon arrival, which we were not informed of when making the phone reservation. When we told them this, we were given the runaround and told that a different department would call us by the end of the day. We did not receive any such phone call, and the issue is still not resolved. Had we had any idea this would happen we never would have chosen to stay here and have definitely learned to never do so again. Cannot recommend for any other families traveling with medical service K9s. One would think that when the situation was explained to them it would have been quickly taken care of, but unfortunately it was not, showing a lack of care for a disabled guest. The hotel is very beautiful surrounded by a golf course and nature. The grounds were spotless and has tons of activities like swimming, tennis, grill area, and of course golfing. The environment was calm and relaxing which is amazing for those who are trying to get away for the weekend. The hotel is also close to a whole bunch of activities outside of the property, Williamsburg is only 20 mins away! The rooms were well cleaned and had a very comfy and homey feel to it. The staff were friendly and always willing to help with any needs we had.
"I felt like I was auditioning for a sequel to Get Out. I kept looking over my shoulder half-expecting someone to start stirring a silver spoon in a tea cup " Honey, let me tell you I am absolutely perplexed. THIS PLACE NOT LOCATED IN WILLIAMSBURG VA ITS IN JAMES CITY COUNTY VA Physical & Jurisdictional Details Property Name: Marriott's Manor Club at Ford's Colony Legal Jurisdiction: James City County (FIPS Code: 51095) Magisterial District: Jamestown District Tax Parcel ID: 3130800001 I just got back from A Williamsburg getaway and I have never felt more misled in my entire life. They sell you this dream of being near the historic charm of the COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG city, but let’s be for real: Marriott's Manor Club at Ford's Colony, 101 St. Andrews Drive, James City County, Virginia 23188 is no where near the HEART of the actual City of Williamsburg. I was expecting brick paths and fife players, but instead, I got drunk golf payers and employees who yelled at international students in front of guest. I had to drive for twenty minutes through the literal wilderness. This place Iis deep in the woods, darling. I’m talking "middle of nowhere" energy. I felt like I was auditioning for a sequel to Get Out. I kept looking over my shoulder half-expecting someone to start stirring a silver spoon in a tea cup or ringing those little bells the vibes were just that eerie and isolated. If you think you’re going to just "pop over" to Colonial Williamsburg, think again. You’ve got a long, lonely 15 to 20-minute DRIVE If you were trying to be authentic and decided to ride a horse pulling a whole buggy? Child, you’d be trot-trotting through those dark woods for a solid two hours. I am beyond disappointed. If I wanted to be a woodland creature, I would’ve gone camping. This was not the "Colonial" experience I was promised... I want management out here to be honest and direct. Why you all out there lying to your guest . UPDATE : AFTER GETTING A CALL I WAS REFUNDED FOR MY ENTIRE STAY. Next time I am going to Marriotts Williamsburg Lodge it's in the heart of COLONIAL Williamsburg.
We stayed for one week in a 2 bedroom condo in April 2026 and would stay here again. The property is well maintained and the staff was always helpful. The beds are comfortable but the bedrooms need room darkening curtains as lots of sunshine comes pouring in through and around the blinds starting around 6 AM. The gym is very nice but the non soft grip free weights feel like little needles going into the palms of your hands. The long paved and very shaded walking path was a very nice bonus for our daily 2 mile walks.
I am extremely disappointed with my recent stay. As a Platinum Elite member, I did not receive any of the associated benefits, nor was I informed in advance that they would not be available. The lack of communication and acknowledgment was concerning. Additionally, housekeeping services were inadequate, as the bedsheets were not changed during our stay. Overall, the level of service did not meet expected standards. We were in town for a soccer tournament and experienced weather-related cancellations beyond our control. Despite this, I was informed that because I was eight minutes past the cancellation deadline, no exception could be made. The rigid enforcement of the policy, particularly given the circumstances and my loyalty status, was disappointing. This experience did not align with the level of service I have come to expect.
We stayed at a 1 Bedroom, it had an electric fireplace, a jacuzzi tub for two, and two TVs (one in the living room and one in the bedroom.) The 1 bedroom units are all located on a different road, that’s not the same as the 2 bedroom units. The gym is located in the same building as the indoor pool and hot tub, which is the same building you go to check-in. They have plenty of snacks for you to purchase, including alcohol, ice cream, and much more! There are roll-in showers in the locker room, the lockers are a bit tricky to use, and the sauna has a 15 min. sand clock mounted on the wall for you to use. Great staff, Sherry was super helpful. We had an issue with the room key and she immediately took ownership of the situation and went to the front desk in our behalf. And then, she escorted us to the room to make sure it worked (as they were working with a newly upgraded system.) Quincy guided us on the nature walk and was easy to talk to. The tall young man at checking could use some training. Not very welcoming. Answered questions but did not feel authentic/genuine. He needs to learn how to connect with every guest, as we mentioned we had never stayed at this property before. We ended up booking an additional night because we loved the hotel so much. Since there was a lot of snow left over from a storm, there wasn’t a lot of guests at the hotel. But this only made it more enjoyable for us to use the amenities. All the roads were cleared from the snow, that was not an issue. But it was cold. I learned people usually go to play golf end of March, or in the month of April.
We stayed here a few years ago and had a great stay. Well, we just checked in a few hours ago and noticed something moving in the corner of our bed, grabbed the closest sticky thing near us and boom. Bed bug. Alive and recently fed. Someone came by to look at the bug & room, tried saying it was a dust mite (which are not even visible to the naked eye), the front desk wouldn’t even acknowledge the bug on the piece of tape and said they had to keep our stuff until Monday before they could even move us to a new room. Having to repack our stuff, 2 year old and newborn back into the car was not the ideal plan. I have nightmares about finding these in hotels. And when we do, after being an MVCI owner for 20+ years, we were given 0 help or care So we left and wont be back. Very disappointing
Overall love the experience here! Rooms are spacious and lots of activities to do. Pools are even open in December! All staff are very nice, except for Diane at Concierge - Marriott, please make sure to train her better. She’s condescending and rude. I called asking for Concierge to help book a tee time for me (because front desk said concierge can do that). Spoke with Diane for 15 minutes, after asking for every detail about me, I said I look forward to playing today, then Diane asked if tee time means a round of golf, I said yes, she said “oh then I cannot book it for you, I thought you meant something else”. What else could tee time possible mean?? She was quite rude in her tone too. Anyway, it was the only bad apple in a good barrel so far!
I think this might be a place best done in warmer weather. Unfortunately, we were in Williamsburg when it snowed and was in the 20° temperature. The amenities at Ford’s colony are primarily outdoors. They have shuffleboard, Pickleball, tennis courts, putt, putt, golf, cornhole, table, tennis, and an outdoor swimming pool. With the weather being bad, they have a very small game room in an indoor pool. Most of the amenities we were not able to enjoy as even the golf course was too cold and wet. The couch to sit on it was highly uncomfortable. We made it into a bed for our daughter and she couldn’t sleep as it was too hard and uncomfortable. The king bed was quite comfortable. The kitchen was a tight squeeze. A little disappointing that the marble countertops were cracked. The kitchen stove was not really cleaned well. We are agreed with very friendly smiles upon entering. Any of the staff we encountered from maintenance, housekeeping, front desk, and sales office were all very bubbly, enthusiastic, and seem genuinely interested that we were staying there. The location is 15 minutes from everywhere. I mean that since it took us 15 minutes or so to get to colonial Williamsburg. Took us 15 minutes to get to the Winter lantern festival. It took us 15 minutes to get to dinner. The buildings themselves are in a community. The community has great sidewalks for walking. The environment is very safe.
