Very simple motel that is kept clean and nice by the staff. Perfect location with a small beach right on the James River across the street and nice overall area with a few restaurants and shops. Easy walk up a small bill to the historic Yorktown villages which is the birthplace of America’s independence. Lots of beautiful and easy walking tours and easy access to highway 17. Rooms are simply appointed and work fine. No defects but also nothing luxurious. Just like I said it’s a simple motel atmosphere in a perfect location. And it’s clean and kept nice. There is a small pool on the second level as well. Some upgrades are being made to the building so this all might change over the next few months. It is my favorite place to stay in the area. If you’re visiting Yorktown and someone in the Gloucester area, you can’t go wrong staying here. All the other local places are boring in comparison.

Excellent location to the river walk area of Yorktown. We had the Chesapeake suite with the balcony overlooking the James River. The room was a little dated but clean. Our dogs loved the balcony. Due to food allergies we did not try the continental breakfast. Pool area was really nice. We’d stay again.

We had planned to stay at Yorktown Beach Hotel for 2 nights in May. Due to unforeseen circumstances, our dog became ill with severe digestive issues. We notified the hotel at 5AM (morning of check in) explaining that we could not leave the dog alone resulting in taking him to the Vet. My wife called again later that morning and left a message for the manager, Matt to call us back. No return call was made. My wife and I sent 3 emails along with another 2 phone calls and still no response. We understand that your hotel has a strict policy enforced regarding refunds. We are not asking for a refund. We are hoping to get at best a credit for a future stay at your facility. Or at worst, matt or any other manager can have the common courtesy to return our phone calls or emails. This is poor customer service. We lost $455 and this is totally unacceptable. We hope you treat your guests with more respect than you treat potential customers.

The location and view were great. No need to drive anywhere. The farmer's market is next door for instance. The room was clean, albeit tired, overall amenities were a bit spartan. The location is a double-sword. People like to hang out on the beach all hours of the night making noise. If they're not on the beach, they're revving their engines and/or playing loud music, pea-cocking it and cruising town. A Harley with no mufflers rode past on 05/17/26 @ 0120 hrs setting off my truck's factory alarm parked out front. The Sheriff needs to google, "broken windows theory" and go to work.

Our first time here in Yorktown & the Yorktown Beach Hotel made the stay perfect. A true diamond in a hidden gem of a place to visit. Beautiful location, quiet room & views of the river/inlet spectacular. The owner, staff are amazing. We had the best stay & visit and hopefully will return in the future. When I made the reservation, it was not made clear that we would be in a separate building. The check-in person was very friendly. He said something about breakfast but I didn't catch what he said. There was no guest guide to tell us about breakfast, check-out time, TV channels, etc. The room was nice enough but not worth what we paid for a Tuesday night in early May.

If you are looking for a classic beach hotel then this is a one of a kind find. It was the perfect location for us to visit our son who is currently stationed in York Town with the Coast Guard. It was in walking distance to every thing in York Town. The views of the river were amazing. The service was great. We arrived a few hours before check in and our room was ready to go. Every employee we encountered at the hotel was very nice and helpful. I gave the rooms 4 stars because the beds in the double rooms were just a little smaller than we liked and the room had an extremely strong bleach smell when we arrive and had to keep the patio door open for a few hours….but the room was clean and tidy and house keeping had taken care of our room but the time we got done exploring on Saturday. Over all very pleased with our stay!!!

Yorktown Beach Hotel was great! Easy beach access and a beatiful, historic town thats provides intrigue for any history buffs! The rooms were extremely clean and comfortable, the staff was friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend, my trip was relaxing and stress-free. Will definitely stay here again in the future!

When I stepped out of my car, a staff member — who I later learned is part of ownership — immediately asked if I was a guest and told me I needed to leave or the sheriff would be called. I felt unsafe during the interaction. When I returned with a sheriff to clarify the situation, the interaction with ownership felt unprofessional and unwelcoming. The way I was treated suggested bias and discriminatory behavior. I will not be returning and would caution others to be aware of the treatment you may receive here. I’m unable to respond so here’s my response: My concern was never about parking policy. It was about the manner in which the policy was enforced. I exited my vehicle briefly, complied immediately when addressed, and was still rushed to leave and threatened with law enforcement. Being questioned about whether I “belonged” and having the situation escalated felt unnecessary and discriminatory. I hope future interactions are handled more respectfully and without intimidation.

We had an excellent stay at Yorktown Beach Hotel! The location is unbeatable—right by the beach and close to shops, restaurants, and local attractions. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well maintained, making it easy to relax and enjoy the trip. The staff was friendly, professional, and always willing to help with anything we needed, which really made the experience stand out. Everything from check-in to check-out was smooth and stress-free.
