Club Wyndham Kingsgate offers a family-friendly vacation rental experience with multiple pools, a game room, and a convenient location near Williamsburg’s historic sites. However, recent reviews highlight concerns about noise levels, outdated facilities, and potential issues with booking discrepancies through third-party platforms.
If you rent one of these places off AirBNB, you're likely not actually renting from the person on the listing. Its just someone being used to get you in here that makes a commission. Once you get here, be ready to be pressured with all types of "incentives" to sit through a presentation on buying a timeshare you likely don't want. They tell you they'll give you free tickets to Colonial Williamsburg, but that you pay them a fee, "but you'll get it back if you attend the presentation"... Then try adding free vacations, hotel coupons, dining coupons etc. and claim they have, "no catches". Everything has a catch, 45 minutes later they finally left us alone and gave us our room key cards. Will NEVER rent a place like this off AirBNB again. On top of that, the building is paper thin, 2nd floor room and every time someone slams the entry to the building the whole place shakes. You can hear the people below running the shower and talking. Real relaxing. Also, the pool was a disaster for young kids. Nothing but rowdy adults, drinking in the outdoor pool. Indoor pool overwhelmed with rambunctious, unsupervised young children breaking every rule posted. Nobody at the Activity Center does anything to try and enforce policies. Kids climbing on the pool and air hockey tables, 1/3 of the arcade games out of order. This place isn't all that for the cost.
We absolutely adored our extended stay with Wyndham Kingsgate in Williamsburg. Everything was perfection, regardless of what hiccups occurred naturally. The staff is phenomenal, the grounds & events are wonderful & the entire overall experience was amazing!
This is a fantastic place to take your family or to have a family reunion. In the summer, the grandchildren enjoyed putt-putt, outdoor checkers and other lawn games, tennis, and the playground. However, the biggest attraction for both summer and winter are the indoor and outdoor pools, plus an adult only pool, and two rooms of free arcade games. There is an outdoor hot tub which is open all year but we didn't tell the children because there are no life guards so we didn't want to go out to supervise them. In addition, there is a small theater and other planned activities like hot chocolate time. And you are right in the center of the Jamestown, Yorktown, and Williamsburg historic sites, plus the Atlantic Ocean is less than two hours away. Our grandchildren keep asking when we can go back again.
Stayed here with my family while visiting the area. Loved its proximity to the sites and shopping around Williamsburg. I appreciated the full kitchen and it being stocked with kitchenware. Also, I was thankful for the washer and dryer and that they provide detergent for 2 loads. (I had my baby and toddler with me.) While the rooms may seem a bit dated, the beds are comfy, the bathrooms have been updated and the water is hot, and everything is clean. Though they said they had cribs. They have pack n' plays, not cribs. So bring your newborn insert, if you have a young baby, and bring a crib sheet. My 10 yo son enjoyed the game room and wanted to spend more time there. We took a dip in the indoor pool and it is actually heated. (Some places claim heated indoor pools, but my kids blue lips usually indicate otherwise.) The pool was great and enjoyed by everyone. Also, they provide towels for the pool! Lastly, since we were here mid-December, we loved how decorated the grounds were and the buildings! We will definitely stay here again on our next visit. As a family of 6, there was enough space for us to be comfortable.
For where I had to go, this location is perfect. I could not take advantage of everything though. The GPS navigation doesn't work while on the property so familiarize yourself. They do have suites with ramp access for the mobility impaired. I was picking up external noise but, within my suite, the noise wasn't traveling. The internet speed is super slow and I did not have the luxury on this trip to address it. Just do not plan on downloading anything of length. Although the temperature outside was not consistent, l was able to maintain a comfortable temperature in my suite. Everything was clean and operating.
I recently had a fantastic solo stay and wanted to share my experience! The staff members were exceptionally pleasant and friendly, making me feel very welcome throughout my visit. My room was quite comfortable, providing a perfect sanctuary after a day of exploring. I particularly enjoyed taking advantage of all the local fun and activities available. It’s always rewarding to discover new places and experiences. This trip offered a wonderful balance of relaxation and adventure. I highly recommend experiencing such a hospitable environment. Truly a memorable and enjoyable solo getaway. #SoloTravel #ExcellentService #ComfortableStay #LocalFun ??
Overall everything was beautiful. The amenities were nice too. I stayed with my youth group and it was perfect for the event we were attending. They loved the apartment, the pool, and the hot tub! We got a unit close to the restaurant and the activity center so they even ordered from Sly Clyde. We had an issue with the sleeper sofa that they addressed promptly but couldn't really "fix". It was a short stay and a minor inconvenience.
Our stay at the Wyndham Resort was awesome. The rooms were surprisingly large and gave our whole family plenty of space to spread out and relax. It was very affordable for the amount of room we got, and everyone was comfortable the entire trip. The place was clean, easy to settle into, and perfect for a family getaway. We’ll definitely stay here again the next time we travel.
The service was ok, I booked on booking.com and never read anything about it being a time share resort, It was listed as an apartment. Apon arrival I was informed about the timeshare meeting on one of the days I was there. I wasn't happy but I did go since some of the responsibility fell on me to do more research on the location. I got a great timeshare rep that did in fact make me wanna try it but I was in town for business and did not intend on spending time on the meeting or thinking about purchasing a timeshare, the rep was very accommodating and went through his presentation with no pressure, let me out right at 60 min mark, so I was very appreciative of that. The room was well equipped and location was good. My 2 star comes from the noise from the stairs and doors when nighttime came. The stairs sounded like they were being stomped every time someone when up or down them. I tried going up and down them quietly but they were just loud. All the doors slammed shut if not held and shut quietly. I know this falls on the people shutting them but the rooms were just loud. We came back on Saturday to find 0 parking within 15 min walk from the room we had rented. We stayed in the 30 building and had to park at the front desk. The response I got was that they were sorry but there are no assigned parking places. We only had 1 vehicle and I'm sure others had more than just one but that's just an assumption.... I just hope this helps the expectations of other. The room was the most affordable for the 14 days we were in town so thats why we booked it
my wifes family has been coming to Williamsburg for over 15 years. however, their most recent stays have been here. they usually come twice a year, once in summer and once for the Halloscream weekends at Busch Gardens in October. i usually only come during the Halloscream due to work. they always stay here as they are more like condos rather than a hotel. the rooms can still be attached though. it has always been very clean. the rooms have full kitchens with dishwasher and some even have washer/dryer in the closets. the best part, you can get deals on stays that include tickets to different "things to do" on a deal if you stay here. they do try convincing you to attend time share presentations, but you can decline. i have not had the luxury of using any of the include amenities yet. the location is also close to Grocery stores, fast food places, sit down restraunts, and close drive to BG and Colonial. i will always consider this as my first place to stay and always recommend to others as well.
