Club Wyndham Kingsgate offers a convenient location near Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens, featuring spacious two-bedroom suites and a range of amenities like pools, a game room, and mini-golf. However, recent reviews highlight deferred maintenance, occasional service issues, and a persistent focus on timeshare presentations, sometimes leading to stressful experiences for guests.
The elephant in the room: If you book with cash like I did, just say no to the timeshare presentation (they will call it a tour) and keep saying no when they keep asking. If you want Wyndham timeshare points, you can get them from eBay for $1 for as many as you want, but you will still pay through the nose for maintenance. The rooms are spacious, it's great to have a two bedroom layout and a kitchen when traveling with kids. Unfortunately, we shared the rooms with a number of german cockroaches (not to be confused with timeshare salespeople). The location is hard to beat for convenience to shopping, Colonial Williamsburg, and BGW. There is no EV charging. In 2026, particularly for a long-stay property in a car dependent location, this will cost you a star. Paid EV charging is fine! The amenities are hit or miss. For example, we were really excited to have on-site mini golf, but our evening game moved very slowly because we were stuck behind a couple of groups of boomers who think they are at the Masters and need to take everything pretty seriously. We tried again for a game the next morning and found that mini golf doesn't open until after 9:00 a.m. There are clear signs of deferred maintenance like one of the entry gates was permanently up while we were there, there was a pretty nice leak from some of the pool plumbing, buildings are generally in okay but not amazing shape. If you are buying (we are not!), you should expect to maintenance fees to go up to cover this. Oh, and the wifi sucks, we are here for vacation but would have been living off of cell phone hotspot if anybody was here to work. EDIT: Emailed as requested, no response after 10 days. I assume the cockroaches selling timeshares are "working as intended", and the cockroaches in the rooms are still there and ready for the next guest. Downgrading to 1 star for the insincere request for contact / discussion.
This is a classic resort. Each room has a small kitchenette so you can choose to dine in or out lots of activities at resort amenities. It is not accessible so be prepared to carry your luggage up and down stairs. The staff has been delightful.
Excellent location and great facility! Special thanks to Gloria in the activity center for moral support and directions around, and to Sherri at the front desk for providing a jump pack to start my car after I completed an alternator install in the parking lot! It's people like them that makes you want to come BACK to a location! Thanks to everyone on a golf cart too! Y'all are great!
Could be fun as long as you're elderly. Definitely not meant for younger families. Rooms are mid, cleaned half way, can definitely hear those above you. Got kicked out of the indoor pool for it raining outside. Showed arcade games in the pictures and those arent there. Positive is its 10 minutes away from stores and other activities. Havent had a bad interaction with staff either so thats a plus.
We are a family of two adults and one child, and we stayed at this property for four days and three nights through a vacation package purchased via Club Wyndham. According to the terms of the offer, the mandatory sales presentation was supposed to last two hours. In reality, we were forced to sit through the presentation for almost four hours. In addition, I was explicitly told over the phone that there would be a dedicated space where children could play during the presentation. No such space existed. As a result, our child was also required to sit through the entire four-hour presentation, which was extremely distressing for our family. To make matters worse, a nightmare continued after the stay. Because I had purchased two vacation offers at once, I attempted to cancel the second one after this awful stay. The experience was so traumatic that I could not persuade my family to visit another venue. However, customer support refused to refund the second offer, citing the seven-day cancellation window. Despite the fact that they violated their own terms by forcing us to attend a presentation far longer than stated, they strictly enforced the cancellation terms against us and denied any exception. This was a deeply unpleasant and stressful experience, and I would strongly caution other families—especially those traveling with children—before accepting similar offers.
Loved loved loved my stay. I had a wonderful time. The amenities here are wonderful. Fri night Karaoke, indoor heated pool, outdoor pool, adult only pool, hot tub, laundry inside unit, miniature golf, restaurant, arcade room, large connect 4, bbq grills and good location. Only 8 mins from Walmart and other places. Gas stations in walking distance. We had a great time. I will be back.
If you rent one of these places off AirBNB, you're likely not actually renting from the person on the listing. Its just someone being used to get you in here that makes a commission. Once you get here, be ready to be pressured with all types of "incentives" to sit through a presentation on buying a timeshare you likely don't want. They tell you they'll give you free tickets to Colonial Williamsburg, but that you pay them a fee, "but you'll get it back if you attend the presentation"... Then try adding free vacations, hotel coupons, dining coupons etc. and claim they have, "no catches". Everything has a catch, 45 minutes later they finally left us alone and gave us our room key cards. Will NEVER rent a place like this off AirBNB again. On top of that, the building is paper thin, 2nd floor room and every time someone slams the entry to the building the whole place shakes. You can hear the people below running the shower and talking. Real relaxing. Also, the pool was a disaster for young kids. Nothing but rowdy adults, drinking in the outdoor pool. Indoor pool overwhelmed with rambunctious, unsupervised young children breaking every rule posted. Nobody at the Activity Center does anything to try and enforce policies. Kids climbing on the pool and air hockey tables, 1/3 of the arcade games out of order. This place isn't all that for the cost.
We absolutely adored our extended stay with Wyndham Kingsgate in Williamsburg. Everything was perfection, regardless of what hiccups occurred naturally. The staff is phenomenal, the grounds & events are wonderful & the entire overall experience was amazing!
This is a fantastic place to take your family or to have a family reunion. In the summer, the grandchildren enjoyed putt-putt, outdoor checkers and other lawn games, tennis, and the playground. However, the biggest attraction for both summer and winter are the indoor and outdoor pools, plus an adult only pool, and two rooms of free arcade games. There is an outdoor hot tub which is open all year but we didn't tell the children because there are no life guards so we didn't want to go out to supervise them. In addition, there is a small theater and other planned activities like hot chocolate time. And you are right in the center of the Jamestown, Yorktown, and Williamsburg historic sites, plus the Atlantic Ocean is less than two hours away. Our grandchildren keep asking when we can go back again.
Stayed here with my family while visiting the area. Loved its proximity to the sites and shopping around Williamsburg. I appreciated the full kitchen and it being stocked with kitchenware. Also, I was thankful for the washer and dryer and that they provide detergent for 2 loads. (I had my baby and toddler with me.) While the rooms may seem a bit dated, the beds are comfy, the bathrooms have been updated and the water is hot, and everything is clean. Though they said they had cribs. They have pack n' plays, not cribs. So bring your newborn insert, if you have a young baby, and bring a crib sheet. My 10 yo son enjoyed the game room and wanted to spend more time there. We took a dip in the indoor pool and it is actually heated. (Some places claim heated indoor pools, but my kids blue lips usually indicate otherwise.) The pool was great and enjoyed by everyone. Also, they provide towels for the pool! Lastly, since we were here mid-December, we loved how decorated the grounds were and the buildings! We will definitely stay here again on our next visit. As a family of 6, there was enough space for us to be comfortable.
