The Super 8 by Wyndham Williamsburg/Historic Area receives mixed reviews, primarily focused on its affordable price and convenient location near attractions. However, numerous guests report issues with cleanliness, persistent odor problems (including smoke, mildew, and roach infestations), and a generally rundown condition. Recent reviews highlight concerns about aggressive staff behavior, aggressive outsiders and aggressive activity outside of the hotel.

Smelled like mildew. Requested a bottom floor when reserving due to my husband being handicaped but put on top floor. Told bottom was sold out. I reserved it 4 days prior. Mold in bathroom. Door does not seal, and people knocking on the door at 1am.

We booked through a third party site, that claimed this was a pet friendly hotel. THEY ARE NOT PET FRIENDLY. Expedia scammed us, This super 8 SCAMMED US. Even their website mentioned being pet friendly, when we arrived and saw the sign and asked to change our reservation he said everything must be handled through them if you booked with them. He seemed salty and mentioned he could’ve helped us had we booked directly with him. We contact expedia who swears they’re pet friendly and claims he called and talked to the manager on site. When we finally got out of the car to unload, he met us outside very ugly and telling us no pets none at all not even ESA. Went upstairs and locked us out of the rooms. I did go upstairs at one point while trying to figure this out to use the bathroom and there was burn marks in the blankets, batteries in the alarm clock thrown everywhere. The bath tub was filthy. I would never recommend staying here EVER. I have definitely stayed at some nice super 8s AND THIS ISNT ONE. We drove hours to get here and had to drive back home, without a refund .

DO NOT STAY HERE! We drove 6.5 hours with our 8 month old baby. After paying for hotel in full DAYS before they changed my reservation. The room we stayed in smelled like smoke, had 2 dead mice in their traps in the room and refused to move me after reporting the incident. They also let prostitutes stay there as well as let homeless people camp out on the benches outside the rooms. They also do not plug in their microwaves or refrigerator and I had no idea. I called and the lady at the desk lied to me multiple times.

Definitely a "budget" place to stay. We were able to stay in a smoking room, however there were burn hole in the blankets, a hole in the wall, rusty fixtures and the bathroom vent looked like it hadn't been clean in years. Room looked clean, but didn't feel clean and smelled bad. Not cigarette smoke bad, a different kind of bad.

I booked last minute, so options were limited, but this stay was disappointing. My “non?smoking” room smelled strongly of cigarettes and marijuana. The hotel has benches positioned directly outside the room windows, which seemed to encourage groups to gather. Our neighbors took full advantage—drinking and smoking outside our window until about 1 a.m., making it impossible to sleep. To top it off, there was no coffee available in the lobby at checkout. What I did find was an odd display: a stack of canned vegetables next to the microwave. I’ve attached a photo. Overall, not the experience I expected, even for a last-minute booking.

Probably one of the grossest rooms I’ve stayed in. Stayed here because it’s close to the amusement park. But the room creeped me out. The curtains were cut in half. The shower ran when off and was moldy. There was gum on the painting and the fridge was rusted. We also reserved a King sized bed room and they didn’t have it. The staff was nice for the small interactions we had.

My family and I recently visited the Williamsburg area over Labor Day weekend and due to an issue with the reservation system at another hotel we were able to find/get a room at the Super 8 in the Historic Area. We were grateful there were still rooms available at this location with it being so late in the evening and so close to so many attractions and downtown. The hotel is older with no major thrills, bells or whistles but we were able to check in and get settled into our room quickly. The room was spacious, and the A/C worked really well. The beds were quite comfortable, but we did find some stains and cigarette burns on the comforter and sheets. The coach also had stains on it, but it did pull out into an additional bed (with extra sheets and blankets ready for use). We did find several small bugs and/or cockroaches in the room and bathroom which could also use some updating as it just looked and felt a little dirty. The TV, microwave and fridge worked just fine and there was ample storage and a nice desk space. The Wi-Fi was not the greatest and spotty at best but nothing too bad to complain about. Overall it was not a bad hotel/experience, but it was just average at best. Admittedly my expectations were not very high for the property, but it served our needs for the trip/visit.

I am pissed!!! Had roaches crawling on us while we slept. Asked for roach motels, so, l don't have to worry about roaches. She did not understand English. And, told me they can spray. Ugh! I have a dog. Supposedly, moving rooms. However, l won't hold my breath. Going to the store to get roach motels. Unbelievable. We won't be back.
