The Super 8 by Wyndham Williamsburg/Historic Area offers budget-friendly accommodations in a convenient location near attractions. However, recent guest reviews reveal significant concerns regarding cleanliness, infestations, and a generally outdated property condition. While some guests appreciate the affordability and proximity to the area, many have experienced disappointing stays due to various issues.
Affordable and quiet, good location. Front desk employees were very friendly and helpful. Rooms are decent for the price, plenty of parking
It was book online gave my room away and had to get double and it had roach on the damn wall it was 60 an night but I stay at other place for the same place but honestly i should when to best wester .. it was quite simple cable was good but bed was way to hard to sleep on and it could been better... Next time I will go some where else
Definitely a "budget" place to stay. We were able to stay in a smoking room, however there were burn hole in the blankets, a hole in the wall, rusty fixtures and the bathroom vent looked like it hadn't been clean in years. Room looked clean, but didn't feel clean and smelled bad. Not cigarette smoke bad, a different kind of bad.
I booked last minute, so options were limited, but this stay was disappointing. My “non?smoking” room smelled strongly of cigarettes and marijuana. The hotel has benches positioned directly outside the room windows, which seemed to encourage groups to gather. Our neighbors took full advantage—drinking and smoking outside our window until about 1 a.m., making it impossible to sleep. To top it off, there was no coffee available in the lobby at checkout. What I did find was an odd display: a stack of canned vegetables next to the microwave. I’ve attached a photo. Overall, not the experience I expected, even for a last-minute booking.
Probably one of the grossest rooms I’ve stayed in. Stayed here because it’s close to the amusement park. But the room creeped me out. The curtains were cut in half. The shower ran when off and was moldy. There was gum on the painting and the fridge was rusted. We also reserved a King sized bed room and they didn’t have it. The staff was nice for the small interactions we had.
My family and I recently visited the Williamsburg area over Labor Day weekend and due to an issue with the reservation system at another hotel we were able to find/get a room at the Super 8 in the Historic Area. We were grateful there were still rooms available at this location with it being so late in the evening and so close to so many attractions and downtown. The hotel is older with no major thrills, bells or whistles but we were able to check in and get settled into our room quickly. The room was spacious, and the A/C worked really well. The beds were quite comfortable, but we did find some stains and cigarette burns on the comforter and sheets. The coach also had stains on it, but it did pull out into an additional bed (with extra sheets and blankets ready for use). We did find several small bugs and/or cockroaches in the room and bathroom which could also use some updating as it just looked and felt a little dirty. The TV, microwave and fridge worked just fine and there was ample storage and a nice desk space. The Wi-Fi was not the greatest and spotty at best but nothing too bad to complain about. Overall it was not a bad hotel/experience, but it was just average at best. Admittedly my expectations were not very high for the property, but it served our needs for the trip/visit.
I am pissed!!! Had roaches crawling on us while we slept. Asked for roach motels, so, l don't have to worry about roaches. She did not understand English. And, told me they can spray. Ugh! I have a dog. Supposedly, moving rooms. However, l won't hold my breath. Going to the store to get roach motels. Unbelievable. We won't be back.
I have stayed at this motel quite a bit in the past. Over the past few years it has really gone downhill. The room was very hot and stuffy but we couldn't use the air conditioner because the vents were covered in black mold. The linens had stains on them. The front desk service was very helpful in allowing us to cancel our last night due to the conditions of the room. It is sad to see the current condition of the motel as it is in a great location and has always been fairly priced. The motel is only 10 minutes from Busch Gardens and Water Country. There is also outlets about 15 minutes from the motel
I went in not expecting much from a motel and I was right. The rooms are small. The queen beds are closer to full beds. It is quite small and we did not get the coffee table we thought we were going to have, but it was cleaner than I had expected and while they do not have breakfast, some days they had a juice machine that was working which was pretty nice. It is in a decent surrounding area tourist wise and the pool was cleaner than I would have thought, but beware purely based on location and not tourist attractions, it is a bit shady and there are some concerning figures around.
When I arrived to check in I was told the king room I reserved weeks ago wasn't available and I would be getting a double room instead. I explained that I wasn't happy with that and then was told that the double room was an upgrade. I pointed out that two smaller beds didn't make an upgrade from the larger bed I had reserved. The man at the desk said that was all he had. I said I guess I'll have to take it but that I would be complaining. He then told me that he wouldn't be letting me stay at the hotel then. That's extortion - and I pointed that out. He then offered me a room with two queen beds - still not the room that I had reserved, and certainly not the double room that he said was my only option - so that was a lie. Lies, and extortion so far from the place. Once I get the room (#118) it was very poor shape. Large pieces of tape holding the bathroom fixtures together, piles of some mystery white powder in the corner, and bugs in the room (I have pictures). I stayed overnight since it was late when I checked in and had nowhere else to go. When I checked out I told the person at the desk what had happened at check-in, and he just nodded. Nothing was said, no apology, no explanation, nothing. I can't believe this is normal for a Wyndham hotel. This place is terrible. I will never stay there again and I warn anyone else to stay away so you can avoid the extortion attempt, the veiled threats, and the straight up lies.
