The Colonial Capital Bed & Breakfast offers a charming and historically rich experience in Williamsburg, praised for its welcoming host, Kathryn, and delicious breakfasts. Guests consistently highlight the property's comfortable rooms and convenient location near historic sites and local attractions. While there was one recent concern regarding breakfast cancellations, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive.
Amazing experience. Kathryn is a great host. Breakfast was lovely. Highly recommend staying here for your visit to Williamsburg.
The unique charm of this lovely home made all of us feel as if we were staying at a favorite relative's home! Each room has its own themed decor! We felt so much at home, our room was a pretty pale yellow just like our room at home! The bed in the James room was comfortable, the bathroom quite accommodating for two people to maneuver. Kathryn, the owner is very sweet and hospitable. She gave us a great breakfast every morning to start our day off just right! We went December 4 thru 8 and the Grande Illumination was on Dec.7th, quite spectacular! My daughter and husband came up from Wake Forest, NC and we toured Colonial Williamsburg together, such a great gift for my daughter's birthday and Christmas present for them! Within walking distance to Colonial Williamsburg and by car to other points of interest. Thank you doesn't completely convey how grateful we were to have such fine accommodations and hostess!
This was my 2nd time staying at Colonial Capital Bed and Breakfast and both times were fantastic. Perfect location to be close to William and Mary and Colonial Williamsburg. Breakfasts are outstanding, lots of options and just plain excellent. Katheryn is a delightful host, incredible hospitality and just a lovely person. The rooms themselves are comfortable and well appointed. This should be high on your list of places to stay!
While the Potomac room/veranda was great and the location convenient (esp for William and Mary) the hostess failed some basic tests for us in customer service. It was bad enough that breakfast wasn’t supposed to start until 9 am, after the major attractions opened. What was worse was the last-minute breakfast cancellation at 7:30 am. I understand proprietors can get sick, but in those cases, there should be a backup plan. Given the crucial role that breakfast plays in a B&B (30 to 50% of the experience, IMO), there should have been an immediate offer of å substantial discount on the room. We should not have had to ask for such a thing. She declined to provide confirmation, which is not surprising, considering it was a measly $20 ($10 per person on a B&B breakfast? What does that say about the value of her product?) There wasn’t even any coffee available because the Keurig display wasn’t working and there wasn’t a note for how to work around it. These flaws are fixable, but so far I haven’t seen any evidence that would prompt me to change my mind. Here’s hoping.
There are truly no words to express how amazing our stay was at the Colonial Capital Bed & Breakfast. It truly was the most beautiful, comfortable, warming, luxurious, and affordable stay, in the heart of Williamsburg. Katheryn, the innkeeper, was truly an angel sent from heaven. Her wonderful breakfast (which was truly one of the best I've ever had) made our stay all the more marvelous! The house was wondrous, magical, and it felt like we were visiting family. The bathrooms were impeccable, the kitchen contained a wonderful assortment of snacks, tea, etc. and if there was anything that needed provided Katheryn was ready to help out. I truly recommend this to anyone who is interested in visiting, and we CANNOT wait to go back! I could talk for hours about how wonderful our stay was, but alas there is limited writing room. Please, please, I recommend this place to everyone. It truly was one of the most marvelous places we've stayed. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT! :) Thank you Katheryn, we love you!
My wife and I would give 10 stars if that was possible! There's too many good things about staying here to write in a short review but I'll just highlight a few. To start Kathryn is amazing! She's so thoughtful and communicative. You can tell she really cares about every little detail and wants every guest to have what they need. The breakfast she prepared each morning was wonderful. Everything was fresh and tasty. We ate enough that we didn't even need to grab lunch on any of the days we stayed. She provided lots of recommendations for restaurants and activities as well. The house itself is gorgeous. We stayed in the York room and the bed was super comfy. The location is prime. It's a 10 minute walk (max) to merchant square and a 10 minute drive to Busch gardens and Water country USA. Though we travel frequently, it was our first bed and breakfast experience. It will be tough to match this and we hope to come back whenever we are in the area!
Kathryn, the owner and our hostess was so thoughtful and accommodating. She also knew a great deal about the area and wonderful Suggestions for dinner and activities. The house is beautiful, yet cozy and comfortable. Our breakfast was the best meal of our day. We highly recommend to anyone wanting a romantic or relaxing getaway.
