The Sleep Inn Historic consistently receives positive feedback for its friendly and helpful staff, particularly at the front desk (Andre, Judith), and breakfast area (Lee). Guests frequently commend the cleanliness of the rooms and comfortable beds, along with the hotel’s convenient location and value. However, a recent review highlighted an issue with roach infestations, and another raised concerns about discriminatory behavior by a manager.
I can't remember the last time I walked into a hotel this clean. Serious pride of ownership! The price is exceptional. The atmosphere is welcoming, there's complimentary breakfast, and it is pin drop quiet. Nothing more to ask for!
I don't have horrible things to say about this hotel. The staff on exception of one were very professional. One older balding man who I assume was employed there asked my daughter to stop making noises. Mind you it was before 'quiet time'. I informed him that my daughter has tourettes and cannot control her tics and walked away. He offered no apology what so ever. He did not seem to be a personable person. If that's the case he should not work in customer service. Other than that irritating encounter the stay was nice.
The first time we stayed, my son mentioned at check in to Andre at the front desk that it was his birthday. A couple of hours later, we found an envelope under our door with a happy birthday message and 2 Starbucks gift cards. It was such a lovely gesture from a very kind gentleman and made us want to come back. So we did, a couple months later, over Christmas. We had another lovely stay, and the staff was just as great. There was a woman whose name escapes me but who had great curls (Melissa?) who seemed like she was doing alllll the jobs as it was the holiday season and a couple employees apparently had called out. She was cheerful and kind. The rooms were comfortable, the location was perfect, the pool was great, the breakfast was plentiful. We’ll always stay here when we come to town.
Andre and his staff are absolutely amazing. Comfortable beds, safe locations, clean rooms, hot breakfast, and ALWAYS wonderful customer service. 10 out of 10 here! I've been staying here since Covid and have always had a great experience!
BEWARE ROACH INFESTATION! We have stayed here many times without issue. However I will never stay again. Initially my child went to the bathroom and screamed because he saw a bug....well it was two roaches running around. We were moved from the 2nd floor to the 3rd floor down the hall not directly above the 2nd floor room. Judith was great and apologetic. She also sprayed the 2nd floor room we left. Well next day in the new room on the 3rd floor we saw 1 live roach in the bathroom. I killed it and took a picture. Andre at front desk came and sprayed the room while we microwaved and ate our food downstairs. Andre comped me for one night saying there would be no more refunds. I didn't ask for a refund to begin with I was just informing of the issue. He also told me all the hotels have roaches this time of year and showed me a piece of paper saying the exterminator had come out that month. So at 11 pm yesterday we were just about to go to bed and I turned the lights back on to go to the bathroom. Well a huge american roach comes out of the upholster chair next to the bed. At this point my child was terrified. We packed up and drove 4 hours home so I am typing this review at 5 am. My child is in travel sports we have stayed at many hotels this is the first that I have seen roaches. The hotel clearly has issues that require more than just routine extermination. Now I have to laundry everything, deep clean my car, trash my suit cases and pray I don't bring any roaches home with me. This was a huge inconvenience and put a major damper on our vacation. I should have left at the first sighting and used my ihg points to book across the street. I am writing this so others don't have to experience the same. 1 roach = 1000 and the low cost of the rooms are not worth the amount of laundry and clean up etc that is needed to avoid infesting ones own home.
Great Staff, the rooms were clean, and the breakfast was always hot and had multiple options. The hotel is in a great location to Busch Gardens and the outlets! Again the staff was very helpful and made our stay very enjoyable.
I had a fantastic stay here during a trip to Williamsburg for my son’s lacrosse tournament. From the moment we arrived, the front desk team—especially Judy and Andre—made us feel completely at home. They were genuinely friendly and thoughtful, always checking in to see if I needed anything and even asking how my son’s games went each day. That kind of personal attention really stood out. The hotel itself was spotless, and the room was incredibly comfortable. The beds were great—exactly what we needed after long days at the fields. Mornings were just as pleasant thanks to Lee in the breakfast area. She was warm, kind, and created such a welcoming start to the day. Having a staff and environment that make guests feel so well cared for made our stay truly memorable. I’d absolutely choose this hotel again the next time we’re in town.
I stayed here for a few days while on a solo trip up the East Coast earlier this year. From the moment I checked in, the staff made me feel like I was at home and not on a long trip by myself. Rooms were basic but well-appointed, and I had no issues with noise despite several rooms being occupied on my floor throughout my stay. It's nice when you can actually sleep well in a hotel and feel like more than a stranger. The hotel was a short drive to all the main attractions with lots of parking. Would definitely stay here again.
All around wonderful and safe hotel. We did have a little problem at check in but at no fault of the hotels, just a third party service issue that was solved within 20ish minutes. Everytime I was seen in the lobby I was asked if I needed anything and then upon checkout I simply mentioned the toilet made an odd sound, no big deal at all and the gentleman wrote down all the information and said he would check on it immediately. I do think everyone really enjoys their job and takes pride in providing friendly service to their guests. The beds were also so extremely comfortable you will fall asleep in no time! Also the room was very clean and didn't have any odd smells.
I had a great stay at the Sleep Inn in Williamsburg. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and offered excellent value for the area. The check-in staff were very friendly and welcoming, which made a great first impression. While the breakfast was basic, it was decent enough to start the day. Overall, if you're looking for a simple, no-frills hotel that's clean and budget-friendly, this is a solid choice.
