The Comfort Inn Williamsburg Gateway receives mixed reviews, with some guests praising its convenient location, cleanliness, and helpful staff. However, recurring issues include temperature control problems, bed comfort concerns, and occasionally, a lack of thoroughness in room cleaning. Recent stays have indicated improvements in service and overall experience.
I stay here for about a week or more every year. I'm on the government contract so they are likely not getting an attractive rate. That said, they didn't clean my room. But they would come in and turn the air conditioner off. I found that really annoying. If you're gonna go into my room, at least take the trash out. Instead of taking the trash out, they would just turn the AC off and leave. Breakfast starts at seven, which is about two hours too late for me, I'm at work at seven.
I want to give a shout out to this hotel and management team - clean, comfortable room, with a good breakfast buffet. And the service was top notch - I had to make a last minute change to my stay and the front desk staff took care of me - they went above and beyond, in fact. I look forward to a return stay in the near future.
Every member of the staff was so friendly and helpful. The entire hotel including the rooms was very clean and quiet. The breakfast was fully stocked and fresh. Highly recommend this hotel if you are in the Williamsburg area.
To start, I think it’s only fair to compare a hotel to others in the same category. The Comfort Inn Gateway was in a great location. Just minutes to Colonial Williamsburg and to William and Mary College. The rooms were far cleaner than most I’ve stayed in that I’d put in the same grouping (Holiday Inn, Quality Inn, Hampton). Is it the fanciest hotel I’ve ever stayed in, no, but that’s not what I expected. The rooms and bathrooms were updated. The bed could’ve been a little more comfortable, but again….they were clean and a safe place to rest. We were able to get connected rooms, so that was very convenient for our family. The rate was fair for the location. The staff we interacted with were all friendly and professional. I would absolutely stay here again. Thanks for a great stay!
We would definitely stay at this hotel again based. Our suite was spacious and pretty clean, great for a 2 year old. The living room and bedroom could use more lights and better blackout shades at night and the bathroom could use more towel hooks/drying rods. The breakfast was fine and beats paying eating out prices. The location is terrific. We had one minor mechanical issue with a bathroom sink which the hotel fixed immediately after we notified them.
Great room, great price, and excellent location. We chose to stay in Williamsburg on our way to Norfolk for a carnival cruise. The rooms at this place were awesome and the price was great for this time of the year.
Great Location. SUPER CLEAN. Monica worked the Breakfast the morning we were there....she did a beautiful job...everything was hot that should have been hot....everything that should have been cold, WAS COLD. Everything was fresh and she kept it well stocked after a large group came thru.....she was super sweet and kind ...I even took her a Homemade Candy from my candy biz to thank her, she was very appreciative.
This very nice and clean hotel is conveniently located so that no matter where you want to go in Williamsburg, your are a short hop, skip and a jump away! After a serious debacle of booking our hotel for what we thought to be Nov. 24-26, and driving from NC only to find out we booked for Feb 2026……. Upon finally figuring that out NARESH was so unbelievably patient and helpful! He was able to move our reservation to the correct time and we were even able to get the suite with kitchenette we originally wanted. It would have been a small up charge for this move (and we would have happily paid) but Naresh even waived that fee! Now on to the suite…..4th floor where no one, literally no one else is on that floor, just you and the attic! Yay!!! The Suite is much larger than you would expect! Nice sized kitchen with a two burner stove, full size fridge and they even had pots, pans, plates, cups, utensils…..even a toaster!! The open floor plan includes a view from the kitchen into the dining area, with a nice size desk to the side and further down the room was a full size couch, with hide-a-bed and two nice sized chairs viewing a very large tv. The bedroom is also large with a kings size bed, another large tv and a nice closet. The bathroom is huge! The shower is so big you could have a party in it and the flow of the water is AWESOME! The only downfall I could say about this place is that the bed was super extra firm. We did buy a couple of soft blankets to put on it to soften it up a bit. You will not find a nicer, more convenient and comfortable place than this one!!! Thank you again Naresh and team!!!
Convenient location, quick check in and check out. There us a side rear entrance open till 11pm (with key) which allows closer parking to rooms in the back half of the building. Breakfast is not extensive, but very satisfying with bacon, eggs, waffles, bagels, fruit, granola, juices, coffee, etc. No biscuits and gravy, but that's just me. :-)
Second year vacation at this wonderful hotel. The manager was wonderful and had lots of patience as I called him several times asking about handicapped availability before we arrived. Breakfast was good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable beds. Looking forward to next year.
