Great location, easy access from I64. Close to all Williamsburg attractions but remote enough to feel like you’re in the country. Quiet at nights. Pool was clean and refreshing on the hot days we were there. Landscaping is well maintained. Nice office/store. We have stayed here before and will be back again.

We stayed for a few days during the week while exploring the historic sites in the area. Camprground was at maybe 50% capacity, so it was quiet and not crowded. The location is relatively close to Williamsburg, but does take 15-20min to get there. We were in the shaded section up front. The shade was nice in August, but the large old growth trees that provide the shade have damaged the asphalt and concrete. The concrete pad was cracked and asphalt at the front of the sites is heaved. The pool area was nice. Simple pool, good chairs, noce pergola. The pool has a crazy high step in/out that could be an issue for someone with mobility issues.

This is really a hidden gem. My husband grew up in the area and had no idea this park was here. It’s tucked into a lovely wooded residential area in Williamsburg and surrounded by stretches of woods. The sites are very nicely sized for full hookup RV sites. You might be close to your neighbor on one side but you’ll have lots of grassy room on the other, with pretty landscaping. The brick oven and patio setup at our site was a really nice touch, but we were jealously eyeing up our neighbor’s full on pergola with a mini garden nook. It was a perfect spot for our huskies - they loved the nature hiking trail that wraps around the camp and the decent size shaded grassy dog run. The pool isn’t very large but very clean and relaxing, and we loved the open fields with family games and pickleball. The whole park was very clean and very quiet, even on busy Friday/Saturday nights. This is now our new go-to when visiting family, Williamsburg, and Busch Gardens.

The RV park was very nice. Some pads were cracked and had some warps and mine (#28) was fine with the exception of the asphalt portion which was severely buckled. Buckled so as I could not use my front tripod stabilizer. Otherwise, park has a nice walking trail with some rugged spots. Staff was very nice and friendly. I had a water issue and the tech came right over and fixed it quickly. Park is very kid and pet friendly. I would stay again.

We recently stayed at American Heritage RV Park while visiting Colonial Williamsburg. Pros: • Pull-through site made parking our camper much easier. • Full hookups (water, electric, and sewer) were convenient. • Free Wi-Fi was available at our site and worked reasonably well during our stay. • The playground was a big hit with our children and gave them something to do during downtime. Things to be aware of: • The road leading to the campground is very narrow and ends in a dead end. There are warning signs, but RVers should pay close attention because there is limited room to turn around if you miss the entrance. • The campground charges per person, including our two-year-old. We were surprised by this because many campgrounds either charge by site or do not charge for toddlers. • One evening, we returned early from sightseeing because our son wanted to play mini golf. The office/store was closed, which meant we could not access the mini golf equipment. At the time, we could not find posted office/store hours. After I contacted management, store hours were posted. • The pool was closed during our stay. • Several arcade games were unavailable when we visited the game room, including racing games displaying "Please call an attendant" messages. After speaking with management, I was informed that the pool closure was due to a broken pump and that the arcade games should have been operating. I understand that maintenance issues can happen. However, families planning to use the amenities may want to confirm their availability during their stay. Overall, the campsite itself met our needs, but our experience with the amenities was mixed.

We recently stayed at American Heritage RV Park for one week and would rate our experience 4 out of 5 stars. The park is on the smaller side, which was actually a positive for us. We travel with a 46-foot fifth-wheel toy hauler, have no children, and bring our dog along, so the quieter atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for. Our pull-through site was spacious and included a nice patio. The sites vary in amenities, with some offering more upgrades than others. One thing to note is that you won't know your exact site assignment until arrival, but if you're traveling with a group, the staff does their best to keep everyone together. The campground was very quiet, friendly, and felt safe throughout our stay. There isn't a lot for children to do, which creates more of a mature, relaxed atmosphere. There were families staying there, but this is not a campground packed with organized activities or entertainment for kids. There is a warm in-ground swimming pool and a small game room, but beyond that, there weren't any campground-sponsored activities during our visit. The dog park is a nice size and the campground is extremely pet-friendly, which we appreciated. The only concern was that the dog park gate didn't latch properly, so we had to improvise a way to secure it and make sure our dog couldn't get out. The staff members we interacted with during check-in were friendly and helpful. Beyond that, we didn't see many employees around the park, and if there were groundskeepers or other staff present, they weren't easily identifiable. Despite the lack of a visible staff presence, the campground remained peaceful and well-behaved, with no issues or disturbances. Most sites do not come with a fire ring unless you're in one of the premium patio sites where they're built in. If you'd like a campfire, you'll need to request a fire ring. We also noticed a few areas where trees could use some trimming, and some rippling asphalt in parts of the campground that may make parking a bit challenging for smaller campers. Our biggest suggestion for improvement would be adding an additional trash disposal area toward the lower end of the campground. Carrying or driving garbage all the way to the entrance was somewhat inconvenient. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would absolutely return. The campground is easy to navigate, accommodating even for larger rigs, very pet-friendly, and offers a quiet, relaxing atmosphere that we really appreciated. If you're looking for a peaceful campground with friendly campers and easy access for large RVs, American Heritage RV Park is definitely worth considering. Check YouTube for the drive thru tour.

The RV park was very clean, and we loved all of the shade trees. Pool was also very nice. The mini golf course could use some sprucing up..it was a bit run down looking. We would definitely recommend this place. We would also happily stay there again!

Very clean family park with above average sites. All sites are concrete pads and all grass. No dirt! Quiet. No rowdyness. Very close to all attractions. Much to see in the area. We were so happy we added on 2 extra days. Everything is extremely dog friendly. Our dog had the best vacation ever. And the cost was very reasonable while filling 10 days of stuff to do.

After staying here a little over a week, my impression of this place is that the cost per night for this cabin was way too high. We paid a little over $1200 for 9 nights. I guess I don't know what I was thinking but it was much smaller than what I thought it was going to be. There is absolutely no place to put your clothes. There is a queen bed and a set of bunk beds and if you're staying here with kids, you're gonna have to leave your clothes in the car because while you can store some things under the bunk bed, you can't put anything under the queen bed. The amount of floor space between the two beds is miniscule. Our bathroom faucet did not work on cold at all.If you turned it to cold, no water came out. This was the only sink to get any water. And in order to get hot enough water to shower, it had to be turned up on hot all the way. These are two things that really should have been checked out by management prior to our arrival. I did let the desk know that but declined to have maintenance look at it because our things were all over the cabin and our little dog was there while we were gone. For the positives, it was very quiet and the bed was very comfortable. While we did make it work, it was not worth $120 per night. Would not stay again.

We stayed at American Heritage RV Park this past weekend and had a great experience overall. The location is hard to beat—being so close to Busch Gardens Williamsburg made getting back and forth super easy. The sites were concrete, level, and well kept, and the bathrooms were very clean and nice. I do wish there was more than one bathhouse, as there’s only one in the middle, but it wasn’t a terrible walk—just something to keep in mind. My daughter especially loved the nature trail, which was a nice bonus and gave us something relaxing to do at the campground. My only complaint: while we were at Busch Gardens, we received a text that the water had to be turned off for a repair. Totally understandable—things happen. However, I do wish there had been a follow-up text letting us know when it was back on. When we got back, all I wanted was a shower, and it would’ve been nice not to wonder if the water was working or not. Small detail, but a little stressful at the time. Overall, this is a very nice, clean, and well-located campground for anything in Williamsburg. We would definitely stay here again.
