The Armistead House receives overwhelmingly positive reviews, praised for its excellent location within walking distance of Colonial Williamsburg, Merchants Square, and dining options. Guests consistently highlight its charming historic atmosphere, comfortable rooms, and convenient amenities like a coffee and tea station. Staff responsiveness and overall cleanliness are also frequently noted as strengths.
We had a wonderful stay over two nights to celebrate our golden anniversary. The only thing missing for my wife was a soaking tub. Our room was on the 3rd (top) floor, but the steps were navigable with 2 landings. The beverage station in the main parlor was a nice touch. The staff were very accommodating. There is some interesting history associated with the home that you will want to inquire about.
I was so lucky to grab last available room right before the weekend trip! ?? I absolutely enjoyed the stay! First of all, I want to appreciate Julia - for her excellent communication skills, for being welcoming and making us feel very comfortable during our stay! ?? Our room was clean and fresh, I loved the combination of renovated modern bathroom and old furniture pieces, that helped to keep that historic atmosphere ? The location is great - literally in a heat of Colonial Williamsburg - 4-6 minutes walk to all the places we wanted to visit! I 100% recommend this house for stay!
Our stay at Armistead house was perfect. We stayed in the Austen Room, which was immaculately clean and light with two large windows. The inn is located a few-minutes walk to the center of activity in the village, as well as a short walk away from excellent dining and all the historic sites. We highly recommend it for anyone visiting Williamsburg.
*Updated review still 5 stars: just wanted to mention me and my partner forgot a few important things in the room and Julia was so kind to call me and even shipped the items back to me! Even though this is a "contactless" property the service was still amazing! Went far and beyond... Will definitely stay there again on our next visit! Original review: Best location in town. 4 minutes walking to the best coffee shop (hohl), 5 minutes to the best restaurant (Ember) and 6 minutes to the main historic street (duke of Gloucester). I was worried the room might be too small but it was a good and maneuverable size for a couple. Bathroom is nice and modern. There is a common areas downstairs with water and a Keurig station for coffee and tea. Definitely glad we stayed here for our historic Williamsburg visit!
The Armistead house is a lovely place to stay right next to Colonial Williamsburg. Easy walking distance to coffee shops, restaurants and Merchants square. The bed was comfy and bathroom was nicely furnished. Very convenient key pad entry to main floor and room. Keurig in the parlor for coffee and tea is always available. We will definitely stay here again!
We absolutely lived our stay. Our room was huge with a large bathroom and also a living room. We find the inn to be extremely clean. It also is in a convenient location. We were able to walk everywhere we went. If we have the opportunity to come back to Williamsburg, we will definitely try to get another room here.
We stayed for two nights and it was perfect for our weekend trip to see Colonial Williamsburg. Everything you need/want is within walking distance. The historic streets, Market Square, and the W&M campus are a couple blocks away. The Austen room was on the ground level and had a private entrance through the gate at the back of the house. It had a comfortable double bed and a nicely updated bathroom. You have your own thermostat and parking space. We enjoyed staying somewhere both unique and convenient!
We absolutely loved our stay here. We literally parked the car and the whole time we were there we took the car out once other than that we were able to walk everywhere. It was perfect. Our room was beautiful very comfortable. We had one of the bigger ones that had a living room so very spacious. everything was in working order. It was a quiet stay. we could not have been happier here.
If you're going to Colonial Williamsburg you won't find a better location. The rooms are spacious and the queen beds are comfortable. They only thing additional we would have liked to have had was some sort of breakfast, even if Continental. Because none is offered, you have to leave the house to eat breakfast, then return and hang out until the park opens at 10. Otherwise we very much enjoyed staying here and would do so again.
Independence day weekend! Perfect location to park and stay. Coffee and tea in the parlor early in the morning, walk to Aromas for breakfast and then explore very inch of Colonial Williamsburg on foot. Then return to watch fireworks from the front lawn of the house. If you enjoy staying in clean historic old houses with lots of character this is a great place. If you are looking for a 5 star hotel with staff waiting on you or room service this isn't that kind of place. We loved it!
