The Spark by Hilton offers a modern and relatively clean stay in the Williamsburg area, often praised for its competitive pricing and convenient location. However, recent reviews highlight inconsistent service, cleanliness issues like stains and bed bugs, and problems with room preferences not being honored, alongside concerns about limited breakfast options and a frustrating initial check-in experience.
Stayed 2 nights in June ‘26. Super clean, and every employee we encountered was friendly. Room was quiet and comfortable. Bathroom spotless. Pool area also very clean and well maintained. Would definitely stay here again!
I recently stayed at this hotel and unfortunately had a disappointing experience overall. The sheets had noticeable black stains.The bedding itself also felt cheap—more like polyester. The air conditioning wouldn’t go below 70 degrees, so the room never really cooled down, especially at night. On top of that, the bathroom cleanliness was not up to the standard I had hoped for. That said, the staff was friendly and welcoming, which I appreciated. However, the cleanliness and overall room quality made it difficult to fully enjoy the stay.
I was disappointed with my stay. When checking in, our room was changed from the one I selected on the Hilton app. The front desk staff member mentioned he made the change, but unfortunately, I had specifically chosen a room away from the elevator and was instead placed right next to it. This made for a very noisy stay, especially at night with families coming and going. The breakfast options were also very limited. We struggled for two days to find items we wanted to eat. That said, the hotel itself was clean, and the daytime staff were kind and helpful. I just wish the room preference had been honored, as it would have made a big difference in our overall experience
Everything was...ok...but not great. Room was not ready well after check-in time. I told the front desk that we would just come back and instead I was checked into a different room. Then I had to track down housekeeping (the front desk kept putting me on endless holds) because one of the beds had to be remade due to a cleanliness concern (hairs). Housekeeping did this quickly and without objections. The rest of the room seemed clean. Everything seemed quiet too. Mostly, the whole place felt cheap and plastic-y, from the beds to the furniture to the bathroom. The 100% polyester sheets were awful and didn't breathe whatsoever and mattress was uncomfortable. Coffee was basically brown water. Nothing that was awful (hence the three stars) but would be unlikely to stay here again if other options exist. Not the experience you'd expect at a Hilton property unfortunately.
This was such a great last minute find. We were only in town one night and the price was perfect and the room was clean and inviting. The breakfast the next morning was more like a light snack but free. I think we found our new place to stay every time we are in town.
I was supposed to have a room reservation for feb 8-9th. Due to travel timing, I didn't get to Williamsburg until 1:00am (which was technically the morning of 9th, about 10 hours before CHECK-out). This hotel told me I had to pay an extra $100 "EARLY check-in fee," despite the fact I wasn't checking in early - and in fact, I was checking in *****LATE*****. Especially when the room itself was only $82. I have NEVER heard of such nonsense at ANY Hilton & I travel regularly for government work AT Hilton's. Why on EARTH would you POSSIBLY charge an EARLY check-in fee for someone whose literally checking in LATE, just 10 hours before check-out time???????????????? Asinine. So it's now 2am and I have nowhere to stay, thanks to this nonsense woman at the front desk. Do better
We stayed the night before a W&M dropoff, wanting to try a place in the years to come. The hotel was quite new, and the rate was hard to beat. The staff was very friendly upon check-in and check-out. Despite being quite new, the room did not seem as clean as expected. There were handprints on the door handles, some dust bunnies on the floor, etc. We checked the corner of the mattress under the protector. While we did not see bedbugs, there was sand under the protector. The bed in the adjoining room was fine, so perhaps just an anomaly. The continental breakfast was pretty meager, but we did not expect much given our low room rate. I will say that the [proudly served] Folger’s coffee was quite weak. While one cannot beat the low rate, I would probably recommend other hotels like the Hampton Inn for a few dollars more.
I checked in on December 31 and checked out on January 2. The room was nice for the price. On the last day of our stay after taking a shower I noticed a small bug on the floor. I killed it and took a picture with my phone. I also did a search on my phone , it said it looked like a bed bug. I gave the bug to the front deck at checkout, which was less than a hour later. I spoke to the manager on duty and was told some would give me a call later. Before going to my home my family and I had to go to the laundromat and wash and dry all of belongings which cost over thirty dollars in quarters. We brought a can of bed bug spray. We packed all our clothes in new trash bags and throwed so items a way. Once we arrived home change clothes in the garage and wash them. I sprayEd my suv a let it sit for two days before going to the car wash to vacuum it out. I did get a call from the motel saying the bug was beetle. It was the smallest beetle I have ever seen and Im from the country n.c.
Visited Spark Hotel by Hilton in Williamsburg, VA on week of December 1, 2025. The hotel was newly renovated and looked brand new to me. All modern decor with lots of perks for the guests staying there. The daily continental breakfast offers many choices. The room was very comfortable with lots of extras. For the great price I would definitely stay here again. Thank you for the peaceful and enjoyable stay at your hotel.
Wonderful experience! Price point, CLEAN, super kind staff, quiet, comfy beds, soft towels, did I mention CLEAN. Perfect location between Historic Williamsburg, Busch Gardens and the shopping outlets. We will definitely stay here on our next trip down. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone that is scared of booking at a hotel that they have not been to. I am clean freak and have walked out of many hotels after seeing the room, not here. 10/10!
